Visit to partner universities in Denmark (6-7 December 2012) and the Visit of Prof. Erik Kjaer and Dr. Lene R. Nielsen in Bogor (23 January 2013)

Visit Dr Lene R Nielsen (Uni Copenhagen) to IPB Bogor with Mr Mahardika dan Yayasan Burunf Staff (09-09-2012)

Visit to partner universities in Denmark, i.e. University of Copenhagen (UC) and Aarhus University (AU), was made on 6-7 December 2012. During the visit at Copenhagen, MoU between IPB Bogor and University of Copenhagen was signed by Vice Rector IPB (Prof. Hermanto Siregar) and Director General of Danish Center for Forest and Landscape Denmark – FLD/IUFRO President (Prof. Niels Elers Koch). The MoU signing was witnessed by HE Indonesian Ambassador to Denmark, Prof. H. Bomer Pasaribu.
During the visit in Denmark, I met Prof. Erik Kjaer and Dr. Ida Theilade and discussed future collaborative research in Indonesia on forest genetic resources and REDD+, respectively. On 23 January 2013, Prof. Erik Kjaer and Dr. Lene R. Nielsen visited Kampus IPB Dramaga, Bogor to discuss the possibility of joint supervision of the new Indonesian PhD students enrolled at University Copenhagen. Prior to the meeting, Prof. Kjaer and Dr Nielsen were received by Vice Rector IPB for Resource and Development, Prof. Hermanto Siregar (@izs).

Dr. Iskandar Z Siregar is a professor at the Department of Silviculture, Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Indonesia. His research interests are Population Genetics of Forest Trees, Molecular Genetics of Forest Plants, , Conservation and Sustainable Management of Tropical Forest Genetic Resources, Forest Tree Improvement, Forest Adaptation and Genetics in Silviculture. Current research projects are Genetic Variation of Shorea spp, Aquillaria spp., Melia spp. and Toona spp, Genetic Marker based Chain of Custody (CoC) in Timber (teak, agarwood and dipterocarps), Genetic Risks of Species Extincion (Endangered Shorea spp.), Conservation of Tree Genetic Resources outside Forests.
