Seminar on PhD Research Grant at SEAMEO BIOTROP (Bogor, 12 December 2011)
On 12 December 2011, I attended, as one of the scientific reviewers, seminar on results of PhD research grants held at SEAMEO Biotrop Campus in Tajur, Bogor, Indonesia. The seminar was officially opened by Dr. Bambang Purwantara, Director SEAMEO BIOTROP and moderated by Dr. Jess Fernandez, Deputy Director SEAMEO BIOTROP. There were six PhD grantees presenting the results dealing with the following research titles: 1) Nano propolis (Trigona spp) as Anti Cancer Materials, 2) Vegetative Propagation, Genetic Analysis and Wood Anatomy of Leaked Resin Pinus Candidates to Produce Good Quality and Sufficient Quantity of Resin., 3) Selection of Drought Tolerant Pinus merkusii strain Tapanuli Using Microsatellite Markers as Adaptation Strategy to Climate Change; 4) Phylogenetic Relationships of Endiandra (Lauraceae) inferred from ITS Sequences; 5) Expression of Responsive Genes for Fusarium sp in Agarwood Aquilaria microcarpa; 6) Assessment of Seagrass Optical Properties and Resilience as Affected by Climate Change and and Anthropogenic Factors in the Seribu Islands. The seminar was concluded with general discussion and presenting the wrap-ups of the meeting (@izs).
